If you got a seat in Phase 1, here’s the rule:
Yes, you need to report to the college you were given a seat in.
Why does it matter?
- If you do not report, your seat will just get cancelled automatically.
- You may lose the chance to participate in additional phases of counselling.
- Even if you are hoping for a better college in Phase 2, reporting in Phase 1 is very much necessary
Pro Tip: Once you have reported, you will remain eligible for upgradation in Phase 2, depending on the options you exercised.

What if I paid the fees in Phase 1 but didn’t get a seat?
This is a valid concern for many students.
Situation 2: You paid the fees in Phase 1 but didn’t get a seat.
No problem at all. You do not have to pay the fees again in Phase 2.
No, you won’t have to pay the fees again.
You are already in the system, so if you receive a seat in Phase 2, the same payment will be adjusted.
Important: Keep your receipt safely, either printed or digital, because you might need it for final reporting.

Do not only go by name of the college – look at branch strength, placement records, faculty.

Avoid These Common Mistakes
Let’s be honest – these could cost you your dream seat.
❌ Mistake #1: Not Reporting either Phase 1 Seat While Thinking You Will Get Luck in Phase 2
It’s not worth the gamble. Report your Phase 1 seat, then try to upgrade.
❌ Mistake #2: Not Reordering Web Options in Phase 2
Even if you locked your options in Phase 1, you absolutely have to reorder or reselect them in Phase 2, based on the Phase 2 strategy.
❌ Mistake #3: Failing to Double Check Cut Off Trend
You may have a good rank but if you don’t compare your rank to the cut off trends, and aim too high, you could end up with nada.
